Nieuwbouw Intratuin, Zevenhuizen (Nederland) 2012
Intratuin Zevenhuizen/Zuidplas is located close to the A12 between The Hague and Utrecht at the Zevenhuizen exit. This brand new garden center is Intratuin's 55th location in the Netherlands and unites sustainability and an optimal experience under one roof.
The transparent and spacious building has a symmetrical layout and therefore looks inviting and majestic. The total site area measures no less than 50,000 m² and includes 15,000 m² parking space with 560 parking spaces, 3,000 m² logistics outside area, 2,500 m² water basin, 3,000 m² warehouse and 16,000 m² retail space spread over two floors.
The cold and warm greenhouse can be found on the ground floor, where visitors can find outdoor greenery, house plants, interior items, animals, ponds and lighting. The first floor is reserved for garden furniture, seasonal cooking and garden houses. There is enough space in the wide corridors for special arrangements and atmospheric rooms have been set up in various places. Wide moving walkways, on which the shopping cart can travel, connect the shop floors with each other. The garden café is centrally located and flows into a lovely terrace on the water at the rear.
The family business attaches great importance to sustainability. Intratuin Zevenhuizen is one of the most modern garden centers in the Netherlands in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility. The synthetic roof consists of nine different layers, extra thick insulating glass has been used for the facades, the gutters are insulated and a heat-cold storage system is used that heats and cools the shop, warehouse and greenhouses with low energy consumption. The lighting in the entire building is low-energy, without compromising on quality. Rainwater is also collected to water the indoor and outdoor plants. There is even a charging point for electric bicycles here.
