Circular Garden Centre – Intratuin Zwolle, The Netherlands | 2020

In 2020, GardenCenterAdvice supported the major transformation of Intratuin Zwolle into a more sustainable, energy-efficient and future-proof garden centre.

Working closely with the Borghuis family, designers, architects and specialist partners, we helped develop a circular concept that optimised the existing building while making intelligent use of sustainable materials and energy-saving technologies.

A new cold greenhouse was added, while the existing cold greenhouse was converted into a heated retail area. This involved replacing the roof and integrating new energy-efficient installations. By reusing and adapting existing structures wherever possible, the project followed important circular-building principles: reducing waste, extending the lifespan of materials and lowering the overall environmental impact.

GardenCenterAdvice was responsible for optimising the store layout, customer routing and shelving plan. We carefully positioned the different departments to create a logical and inspiring customer journey, improve product visibility and achieve the right commercial balance throughout the garden centre.

The result is a sustainable and commercially strong retail environment where architecture, technology and garden-centre design come together seamlessly.

Intratuin Zwolle demonstrates how an existing garden centre can be successfully transformed through smart reuse, sustainable design and close collaboration. We are proud to have contributed our retail knowledge and design expertise to this forward-looking project.
