New construction Plantorama, Tilst (Denmark) 2021
On March 26, 2021, Denmark's largest garden center (approx. 12,000 m²) was opened in Tilst as the thirteenth Plantorama experience center. The twelfth location (approx. 9,000 m²) was opened in Hørsholm the day before. Breddels Architecten designed these two innovative projects in collaboration with the Danish office Rambøll.
Both garden centers are state-of-the-art, sustainable and real eye-catchers. The special copper-coloured cladding at the entrance in combination with the wooden panels at the front of the garden center give the building an elegant appearance.
The fact that they consider the environment very important at Plantorama is also apparent from the fact that the latest technical installations are fully integrated, such as LED lighting, 620 solar panels (203,725 kWh) and wide rain gutters to collect rainwater in the underground water basins. and to be used for irrigating the plants.
The two centers do not differ much in terms of layout and design; both have the same facilities such as a large warehouse, 'Spirestrup' fairytale playground for the little ones, a restaurant, 'open air' plastic arch greenhouses as protected and pleasant outdoor sales and a huge range of products for home, garden and animals.
The central building housing the entrance to the garden center has a first floor and a flat roof. With an escalator, customers can visit the restaurant 'Resorama', which receives natural light from the integrated light strips in the roof.
The light through the asymmetrical roof, the escalator with the light strips above it, the cozy restaurant, the open balconies above the sales area, a waterfall - everything has been done to entertain and amaze the visitor as much as possible. In this way Plantorama creates an experience for the whole family. The perfect place to spend the day.
