New Garden Centre for Fronda in 2026 Barcelona (SP)
New Garden Centre for Fronda in Barcelona
In Barcelona, work is underway on a brand-new greenhouse garden centre for Fronda, one of Spain’s most renowned retail chains in the green sector. For more than 50 years, Fronda has inspired people to live with and in nature. With this new project, the company is writing a fresh chapter in its history, creating a modern, inviting destination where plants, people, and experiences come together.
The new centre will cover 2,482 m² and is designed as a widespan greenhouse consisting of five spans, each 9.60 metres wide, with a ridge height of 9 metres. The walls are insulated with high-quality glazing and sandwich panels, while the roof combines 32 mm polycarbonate with 120 mm sandwich panels. This advanced construction ensures maximum natural light transmission while providing excellent insulation and energy efficiency.
The layout is designed to combine functionality and customer experience. Visitors will be welcomed through an inviting entrance zone, leading into a light-filled sales greenhouse of 1,837 m², complemented by a dedicated pet lovers’ section. Additional spaces include a warehouse and a cold greenhouse, connected through a covered walkway, ensuring both operational efficiency and customer comfort.
The project is a true international collaboration. In cooperation with Thermoflor, GardenCenterAdvice contributed expertise in creating an optimal customer routing, selecting the right shelving systems and materials, and designing the interior layout. The architectural concept was developed by Breddels Architecten, in partnership with the local practice Peregrin Arquitectos S.L.P. in Madrid, ensuring a seamless integration of global know-how with local requirements.
More than just a store, Fronda aims to create a green home for its customers – a place where generations come to discover, learn, and connect with nature. What began as the dream of founder Consuelo Pérez over half a century ago has grown into a vibrant brand with a soul. We are proud to help shape this inspiring new location that will welcome thousands of visitors in the years to come.
